My blog
Have you ever had that one student in your class at school where they kept asking the teacher questions? The student that makes you and your other classmates roll their eyes 50 times in the span of one period because they are sick of them holding up the teacher from teaching the content in class? Well, I personally think that we could all learn something from that student. Yes, they may seem crazy, but they do not care about other people think. They are curious about the world and they do what it ever it takes to achieve their goals. That's another perspective to look at it right? Let's learn to be curious about the world and have a growth mindset. Let's be That Inquisitive Student.

I have created this blog after finishing term 1 of year 11. During that time I have experienced a lot of ups and downs (both at home and at school) and was stressed out a lot of the time. I realised that other students may be feeling the same way that I did and I wanted to help by giving advice to what they could do when being faced with a challenge at school or home. And so, That Inquisitive Student was born.

Thanks again for clicking on this page to learn more about me! Feel free to explore my blog.

Building your support system

Building your support system 2020 has been rough. Admit it. The Coronavirus pandemic has had an impact on us all. Some of us grieved for our old lifestyles when we were able to go out whenever we wanted to. Some of us lost our jobs as a result of this pandemic. For students in high school and uni, school had been moved online via zoom and or on other online platforms. Some of us really enjoyed this new type of learning but a lot of us struggled to stay on top of our work. When we are dealing with uncertainty and stress, it is really important for us to reach out to people in our support system. This is why it is crucial for us to build up our support system NOW, so that when we need to reach out for support, we'd know where to go. Here are some people that you could incorporate into your support system. 1. Friends Having supportive friends that you can lean on is super important. Friends are great people to turn to for support because you know that they will und...

A tool to help you catch up with school work

A tool to help you catch up with school work Have you ever been so behind in your school work, that once you get home from school you just have no motivation left to start working on the work you need to catch up on? This scenario is quite typical of high school students, especially in the senior years of high school (year 11 and 12). Recently, I've been struggling to keep on top of my school work due to family reasons and work. Year 11 is hard. There are a lot more things you have to do in class and outside of class compared to in junior years (year 7-10) to ensure that you understand the content. Eventually, my lack of motivation to do my school work led to the work piling up. I found myself faced with work the size as tall as Mount Everest so I talked to the school counsellor about this. Here's the advice that she gave me: Break it down. Apart from this, she gave me a worksheet called "My Ladder to Success" to help me focus on one step at a time. I ...

How to get a job in high school

How to get a job in high school Most teens, including me, started applying for jobs when we finally reached the age of 15 (in the state that I live in) where we can legally enter the workforce. Applying for jobs can be daunting, mostly because you don't know what to expect and you are putting yourself out there. But I would definitely encourage every high school student to apply for jobs because you will learn so many skills in doing so. If you are currently in the process of applying for jobs, or you are considering to apply then here are some tips to help you out. 1. Check the minimum age when you can start working in your state A super important tip here! Different states have different ages of when you can legally start working. Make sure to check them before you start applying for jobs because employers cannot hire you if you are below the legal age of working in your state. 2. Have a resumé Employers will most definitely ask you for your resumé because it outline...
